Fractional GCs have an in-house mindset, they are comfortable advising in grey areas, they are always learning, and they are resourceful.

Who's eligible to be a Fractional GC?

Baseline Requirements:

  1. 5 or more years experience practicing law

  2. Licensed to practice in the United States

  3. Referred by at least one previous colleague and one previous client. (If this is not applicable to you, reach out to support@heycounsel.com).

What do Fractional GCs generally do?

Although the day-to-day will vary depending on the client and the engagement, you are expected to run point for all things legal, including

  1. Navigating murky regulatory waters;

  2. Reviewing inbound contracts and drafting company agreements

  3. Sourcing, vetting and working with outside lawyers

  4. Ensuring effective representation for things outside of their knowledge areas.

Think of Fractioal GCs as a legal trail guide, a “right hand lawyer”, or a legal QB.
