# Attorney Requirements

How we vet our marketplace attorneys

Here are a few things you'll need to know about how we gate our marketplace:

1. **Attorneys are admitted based on demand.** A marketplace is a delicate balance of supply and demand, and we take into account the demand side before admitting attorneys on the marketplace. Once we've identified a need, we review profiles on a first-come first-served basis.
2. **Attorneys need 5 years of experience.** We keep it simple around here... if you don't have 5 years experience as a practicing attorney, we will not consider your profile. Why? Lawyers are expected to have a familiarity with their respective industries and relevant practice areas that doesn't come without time.
3. **Licensed with no disciplinary record.** We search public records to ensure our attorneys are licensed and have no disciplinary actions against them. 
4. **Two references.** During the application process, we ask for two professional references — one from a client or employer you’ve recently served, and one from an attorney you’ve recently worked with. Each reference will receive a brief, confidential email questionnaire about their experiences working with you.
