Frequently Asked Questions

How does HeyCounsel make money?

We charge lawyers a flat fee to use our platform. This Platform Fee covers costs associated with maintaining the platform functionality, invoicing and billing, initial work done to find and facilitate the match, ongoing check-in meetings and advisor facilitation, and the suite of tooling, technology and training that we make available to both sides of the marketplace.

Does HeyCounsel carry any malpractice insurance on behalf of the attorneys in its network?

We do not carry insurance for any attorneys on our marketplace. However, we do hold an umbrella professional liability insurance for all of the work done through the platform to cover instances where there is a claim against one of our attorneys. Please reach out to brian@heycounsel.com to learn more about insurance on our platform.

HeyCounsel is neither a law firm nor "lawyer referral service" and provides no legal services. No attorney-client relationship is ever created between clients and HeyCounsel; all relationships occur directly between clients and the attorneys they engage.
